This yacht race is a highlight of the Mediterranean and starts in Saint-Tropez in France and travels to the turning mark at La Fourmigue then to Corsica around the Giraglia rock and finishes at Genoa in Italy.
This is a hotly contested race and includes multiple divisions and classes of yachts.
The Race Track
The race track in the Mediterranean can be variable in conditions from moderate conditions to near becalmed.
The Fleet
The fleet can include super maxi yachts and high performance yachts through to small single and dual handed yachts. Fleets of over 200 yachts are typical.
The Start
Saint Tropez is a spectacular race start location full of history and connection to the Mediterranean.
Prior to the Giraglia race itself, there are a number of day races locally which enables sailors to check their performance against other yachts and to take advantage of all that this port has to offer.
The Finish
The finish line is in Italy and is organised by one of the oldest yacht clubs of Italy and the Mediterranean founded in 1879. This finishing club is within the working port of Genoa which has encapsulated the club.
